Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6.1-2

As people made in the image of God, we all need community. For this reason, we offer several different ways you can get plugged into our Hope community. When we meet together, our goal is to grow deeper in our relationships by pointing each other to Jesus Christ.

Koinonia means "fellowship." As believers who are in fellowship with Christ, those who profess to believe in Christ as their savior are called to live in community. Within the local church, Hope provides Koinonia groups where members of the church are able to meeting regularly with others to be mutually encouraged by the gospel.

Koinonia groups meet together to learn about God's Word and how God's grace changes our lives. As each group is assigned a leader, leaders of the group facilitate discussion and conversation through materials related to the Christian faith in small group settings. As groups come from various age groups and life stages, members are brought into a more intimate setting with others in the church.

We believe it is important to make a visible commitment to Christ and his people. A great way to do this is through Church membership. At Hope, we think of our members as a family. This is an official way to join that family. Church membership is also a way to state before God and others that you are a part of this local body of believers.

Bible Studies are held weekly to learn what God has revealed to us through the Scriptures. As different age groups meet together weekly, we hope to foster community by meeting God in the Word together. Typically our Bible Studies will take the form of studying a book of the Bible systematically, tackling a Christian book study, or exploring topics like marriage, the church, and prayer together. Please see the following information for Bible Study times and locations.

  • Women's Group | Fridays, 10 AM @ Various Locations

  • College-Age Group | Fridays, 7 PM @ UCSD

Discipleship is central to our church's values, and we believe in making disciples as followers of our Lord Jesus Christ. As the Lord has given means for individual members to grow within the body of Christ, we seek to nurture members through the Word in larger and smaller group settings. Such smaller settings include Bible Studies, Koinonia Groups, and Discipleship Groups. We encourage proper training and teaching through the means of more intimate and personal groups as Paul instructs (Tit. 2:2-8).

Bears & Cubs and Lions & Cubs is a discipleship program where older men and women train younger men and women to conform more to the image of Christ through prayer and through the Word. Our hope is that the cub will grow to become a man/woman of God who loves Christ and loves others.
