Welcome to Hope Presbyterian Church!

We encourage parents to worship together with their children, as they too are members of God’s covenant family. We ask the rest of Hope family to be patient and “let the little children come” to Jesus (Mt. 19:14).

sermon notes

When we recognize our weakness and turn to Jesus, who alone is the Christ, we are enabled to see and experience His power at work.

I.      I am Not the Christ; Jesus is.

II.     When I am Weak, Then I am Strong.

Reflection GROUPS - 12:15PM

Reflection Questions (Applying the Gospel to Our Lives):

1. Are you experiencing discouragement? Why?

2. In what ways do we act like we are the Christ? Why is it important to admit that we are not the Christ?

3. How do you define success for a church? What are some idols that you have been setting your heart on?

4. Why is weakness something to boast about? What should we do since we are weak?

5. What are good things that the Lord is doing at our church?

Responsive singing - Yet Not I But Through Christ in Me

What gift of grace is Jesus my redeemer
There is no more for heaven now to give
He is my joy, my righteousness, and freedom
My steadfast love, my deep and boundless peace

To this I hold, my hope is only Jesus
For my life is wholly bound to His
Oh how strange and divine, I can sing, "All is mine"
Yet not I, but through Christ in me

The night is dark but I am not forsaken
For by my side, the Saviour He will stay
I labour on in weakness and rejoicing
For in my need, His power is displayed [Chorus]

No fate I dread, I know I am forgiven
The future sure, the price it has been paid
For Jesus bled and suffered for my pardon
And He was raised to overthrow the grave [Chorus]

With every breath I long to follow Jesus
For He has said that He will bring me home
And day by day I know He will renew me
Until I stand with joy before the throne [Chorus 2X]

When the race is complete, still my lips shall repeat
Yet not I, but through Christ in me
Yet not I, but through Christ in me
Yet not I, but through Christ in me

Doxology

Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
praise him, all creatures here below;
praise him above, ye heavn'ly host;
praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Amen.
