what are koinonia groups?
Purpose: Our church is committed to discipleship, and one of the ways we seek to make disciples is through Koinonia Groups (KG). Through KG’s, we want Hopers to fellowship with God and with one another. Together, we want to help each other be disciples that God wants us to be.
This year, we are focusing on everyone being ambassadors of Christ (2 Cor. 5:14–6:2). Our study together is based on Paul Tripp’s book entitled, Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands, and it is about loving and ministering to one another, so we can change to become more and more like Christ.
In the preface, Paul Tripp says that God’s plan is that through the faithful ministry of every part, the whole body will grow to full maturity in Christ. He says that his book is about this: “How God uses people, who are themselves in need of change, as instruments of the same kind of change in others.” Our KG material will help our leaders be better shepherds, but it will also teach every Christian of his/her responsibility to help others.

2024-2025 Koinonia Group Sign-ups
Duration of KG: September 2024 - May 2025
Koinonia Groups are a place where we can grow in small pockets of community within Hope Presbyterian Church of San Diego. The main purpose of these groups is so that people can grow spiritually through settings of smaller groups. Each Koinonia Group seeks to learn about God through the Bible or Christian books and how to apply His truths into our lives together.
FAQS
What if I don't like the KG I'm placed in? Am I able to check out another group?
We ask that you at least attend 3 meetings before you try to check out another KG. Once, you've attended 3 meetings and feel that for whatever reason that you do not want to be a part of the particular KG, please notify the group leader respectfully and feel free to check out another group that isn't at full capacity.
Can I still join a KG even though I'm signing up late?
Yes, you can.
What happens when the group gets too big?
This is a good problem to have. When groups get too big to the point where intimacy is lost, then it's a good sign that the group needs to multiply.
